Movie reviews- Relationship edition

Chloe Macfoy, Staffer

NETFLIX: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

YES OR NO OR MAYBE   Rated: PG-13

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before was released on Netflix Aug. 17, 2018. To All the Boys I Loved Before is about Lara Jean writing secret love letters to five of her old and current crushes but all the letters happen to get out and make her life even more chaotic. This movie is not bad, but it is also not that good. I feel like this movie could have been so much greater with a better script and better actors. If you love corny love stories with lots of cringey moments then this movie is for you.

HULU: Run

YES OR NO   Rated: PG-13

Run was released on Oct. 8, 2020, on Hulu. This movie is a fast-paced thriller/horror starring Sarah Paulson. Run is about a toxic mother-daughter relationship and a daughter starting to venture out in her teens, and the process of finding out her mom’s secrets. When you’re watching this movie you’re going to feel tense the whole time. The secrets that the daughter learns are unreal. But to know what I’m talking about, you have to watch it yourself!

Disney Plus: LUCA

YES OR N

O   Rated: PG

Luca was released on June 18, 2021, on Disney Plus. Luca is about two young boys competing in a race in Italy during the summertime but, the twist is that they’re both sea monsters trying not to be caught. This movie is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. In this movie, you get a bunch of emotions thrown at you like you are in the movie and you care for the characters and want the best for them. The plot and the characters of this movie are a 10 out of 10. It can be corny sometimes, but you should expect that for a Disney movie. I recommend this movie for kids and adults.

HBO MAX:SpaceJam 2

YES OR NO   Rated: PG

A sequel tothe original Space Jam, Space Jam 2 came out on  July 16, 2021, starring Lebron James. Space Jam 2 is about Lebron and his son Dom getting trapped in a digital world and to escape he needs Bug Bunny and the rest of the Looney Tune gang’s help. I’m going to say flat out that this movie is not as good as the original. The original movie felt like it had more thought and heart to the movie. This movie just felt more like a cash grab with nostalgia to get you to watch the original again. I’m going to have to give this movie a NO.
